I am a marriage celebrant. I don't make a huge deal of it, I am passionate about it but certainly do not do it for the money and fame like some celebrants I know.

Anyway this week the Gillard Government delivered their first Federal Budget. And hidden in the papers was a little tid bit of information to be announced the next day in the form of an email to all Authorised Marriage Celebrants.

The Marriage Celebrants Section of the Attorney Generals Department has notified all Celebrants of the introduction of a "Professional Celebrant Fee" And I intend to fight it.
THE FACTS:-
•The cost will have to be passed on to all couples wanting to get married in Australia. Effectively making this a tax on Love, marriage and families in Australia.

•All we have is a start date. July 1st 2013.

•In justify the cost the comparisons were made between Marriage Celebrants and Migration Agents (the ALP clutching at straws I think)
